5) Don’t Let The Past Dictate Your Future

Everyone has made mistakes. It’s part of human nature. Everyone will make mistakes. This is inevitable.

However, something that isn’t inevitable, is letting the mistakes of our past dictate the course of our future.

As I’ve been saying throughout this, we can recognize the screw-ups we’ve made in the past — We have the ability to do that — and, there is nothing that says that, just because we’ve made a mistake, that we have to let it control what we do in the future.

I know that many of us carry our mistakes with us, the worse ones acting like scars to remind us of our failures. But, we don’t have to repeat them, we also don’t have to repeat the mistakes of others that we know about, either. We are the ones who decide what we do, not our pasts, not our mistakes, not other people’s mistakes, us.

We can chose to set a different course, we can chose to do something completely different from the mistakes of our pasts, and leave those errors as distant memories of times we don’t want to remember, but, should never forget.

If you chose to let your mistakes control you, if you let them steer you, if you let them dictate the actions you take, when they you steer down the wrong course again, you’ll have no one to blame but yourself.

Your past is behind you, don’t let it consume your future.
