The Walking Dead: World Beyond crushes it in episode 107

Episode 107 of The Walking Dead: World Beyond opened eyes and dropped jaws.
Since leaving the Blaze of Gory, TWD: World Beyond has been spinning its wheels in the mud. Situations were there for the show to develop and expand upon, but constant teases didn’t lead to many advancements or payoffs for those following the different stories going on within this group of survivors.
Then came episode 107 titled “Truth or Dare” on Nov. 15, 2020. This installment of the story focused on Huck’s traumatizing past while providing a dangerous situation for the survivors as they must acquire fuel for their trip to New York. And then the fecal matter hit the fan.
Huck’s backstory is an amazing one, showing her military affiliation before the outbreak The heartbreaking story of her receiving orders to eliminate a group of humans and instead massacring a group of soldiers is eye-opening, showing a lot about how much faith she has in humanity and what she will do to protect people she doesn’t even know.
Plus, seeing Huck deal with the individual holding Hope hostage was intense, but also showed her loyalty to the group and willingness to do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe, including lying to people and putting herself in danger.
These storylines were great for making Huck a more complicated and interesting character. Having not known much about her before, this should have fans much more interested in her part of the story’s journey.
However, even with Huck’s great backstory and development, the real story here is Silas. He is obviously jealous of the attention Iris is getting from Percy. He shared moments with her before their arrival at the fuel depot and even got a bit intimate at the high school. Now, to see her swooning over Percy, has to be eating him alive (as the saying goes).
That jealousy appears to have reached a boiling point. The group found Tony in a bathroom with his head smashed in and Silas bloody and on the floor in a nearby stall. Now there are several questions as to what will happen with this situation:
- What actually happened with Tony?
- Is Silas’ rage too dangerous to keep him around?
- Where is Percy? And why wasn’t he with either Tony, the main group, or Iris at the makeshift museum?
- Who broke the window and ran off?
Some other great advancements in this story include Hope still wearing a necklace she took from Elton’s mom’s corpse, a drunk Elton making a bit of a move on Hope, and the group discovering their destination is near Cornell, which is not as good as the vastly superior Dartmouth.
As a whole, this episode of TWD: World Beyond should have pulled many fans back in who were struggling to stay connected to the story or the characters to this point and might be the best episode of the series yet. If this is just a taste of what is to come as the season inches toward the finale, fans have to be craving the main course.
