TWD World Beyond: The problem with Percy, part 1
The newest character on TWD: World Beyond is a mystery, and a problem
Imagine living in a bubble. Even in the best of circumstances, your knowledge of the outside world would be limited to what you have been told in your little bubble. For the Endlings on The Walking Dead: World Beyond, their lives have been relatively sheltered over the past ten years and so Percy’s arrival is problematic for a number of reasons.
The Problem with Percy, Part 1
From the very beginning, the Endlings were far too trusting of the mysterious stranger who showed up in the middle of night with a stick.
Though they soon learned that Percy and Uncle Tony were con men from Las Vegas, they still put a lot of faith in people who would have left them for dead after stealing their supplies.
Percy exposes a major flaw in the Endlings: They’re too trusting.
Felix and Huck have been around long enough to know that you have to be careful about new people, but even they’re a bit rusty because they have been living behind the walls of the Campus Colony long enough to forget how things are.
(However, Huck was suspicious of Silas and his reputation, which demonstrates the whole “trust has to be earned” concept, of which Percy has not passed the test…yet)
Percy’s arrival highlights how untested the Endlings are in this world. They need to learn that people are never to be trusted automatically. Though it’s honorable to give everyone a chance, they can’t afford to be caught off guard by someone who wants their stuff.
Hope has a really good sense about people. She saw through Percy’s lies, just as she didn’t believe anything good could come from CRM. Let’s hope (no pun intended) that the group starts paying attention to her instincts moving forward.
The jury is still out about Percy, and even if he turns out to be a good guy, the Endlings can learn a big lesson from their experience with him.
