FearTWD, Survival Rule Of The Week: The devil you don’t know
By Liam O'Leary
5) “Allies” And “Friends” Are Two Different Things. Don’t Forget That.
While it’s certainly possible that an enemy realizes you’re more valuable with them rather than against them, it is by no means guaranteed.
The sad reality is, even in the face of future larger threats, some people will still be too short-sighted or greedy to bother thinking about them, and seek to break your alliance as soon as possible, maybe even the moment after your last mutual enemy has fallen.
When forming an alliance with an enemy, always be cautious, particularly if the thing you and your enemy were fighting over is something you have that they could still want, like a very solid home base, or steady supply of food, water, or other essential resources.
Similarly, if you’ve had to deal with a person amongst your enemy’s group that was important to them, never assume that any potential grudge that may arise from that has just…gone away. It’s entirely possible that they’re simply biding their time until the larger threat is dealt with before exacting their revenge.
Never forget, to some people, an “ally” is just someone you can turn on the moment it’s convenient, and not feel bad about…
There are going to be hostiles in a zombie apocalypse. That’s as surprising as saying there’ll be zombies. But, every so often, there will be people so hostile, that even your enemies will take you over them. This can cause unexpected alliances, maybe even long-lasting ones, but, never assume that’s what you’re getting. Just because the enemy of your enemy might be your ally, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be your friend.
And that’s your Survival Rule Of The Week! Hopefully, you’ve learned that, when faced with two separate enemies in a zombie apocalypse (Especially if the newest one is full of crazies) that you’re better off going with the devil you know.
