The group struggles to trust Silas in season 1 episode 8 of The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond provided a spark in season 1 last week when some major revelations were made about the group and some cracks started to form between the survivors after seeing Tony had been killed.

Episode 8 tackled the fallout from those revelations while casting a bright light on Silas’ past. Learning Silas had killed his father after dealing with abuse helped to explain his actions, it also shows his guilt for his zombified dad biting his mother. Silas being afraid of himself after not knowing what happened to Tony or if he was to blame was a better fate than him allowing himself to be bitten by a walker, which nearly happened.

Hal Cumpston did an excellent job in both the flashbacks with his family as well as when his character was tied to the swing set while the group decided what to do with him. The pain his character felt and his desire to keep to himself now makes a lot of sense and his reason for not wanting to drink with the other kids is evident.

In addition to everything happening with Silas, the payoff for Hope’s secret about Elton’s mom finally reached its apex. Hope revealing she killed Elton’s mom only confirmed his decision to leave and join Silas after he exited on his own accord. What this means for the future of the group will be interesting. Will the groups reunite? If so, how will that happen logically? And how can Silas trust himself around anyone again unless he learns the truth?

As if all that wasn’t enough to make this one of the best episodes of World Beyond yet, another big reveal happened with Huck being exposed as the daughter Elizabeth Kublek was talking about to Hope and Iris all way back in the show’s first episode ever.

So, how much can Huck be trusted from here on out? And what is left for Silas and how can he forgive himself for everything that happened in his past? Plus, who is the “asset” Elizabeth was talking about and what does that entail?

Episode 108 of The Walking Dead: World Beyond is kicking everything up a notch heading into next week’s back-to-back episodes to close up season 1. The final two episodes should be a wild ride after having an excellent setup like this since the last two episodes of the AMC zombie series have been absolutely excellent.
