Connecting The Walking Dead: ‘The Sky Is A Graveyard’

2) Huck’s Dirty Secret
If you didn’t happen to catch this week’s episode of World Beyond, then, ::SPOILER WARNING:: it turns out that Huck is actually a double agent for the Civic Republic Military. I know, I’m disappointed, too.
As bad as this is, Huck is not the first member of a group of protagonists in a Walking Dead show to turn out to be spy for a hostile group. In fact, we saw this as recently as the latest season of The Walking Dead, in the form of Dante, who, we discovered, was a mole for the Whisperers, sabotaging Alexandria’s attempts to combat the group, contaminating the community’s water, making several people sick, and murdering a couple more, including Siddiq.
Between the two, I’m going to say that Dante is the worst thus far, as he murdered at least three people, and tried to cripple and divide Alexandria when they needed to hold together the most.
If one is to believe that Huck killed Tony, that’s only one member of the group she’s killed thus far. That said, with the group being so much smaller than Alexandria, her efforts to divide the group may prove far more detrimental, as she’s managed to cut the group in half with one fell swoop: Murdering Tony, scattering Percy, driving away Silas, and, effectively, driving away Elton, too, leaving an unsuspecting Felix, Iris, and Hope very vulnerable to whatever her mother may be cooking up for them.
As to what will come of Huck’s betrayal, I don’t know. With any luck, her and her mother’s scheme will not result in any further death amongst the Endlings, and Silas, Elton, and Percy can reunite with Felix, Iris, and Hope before any such schemes can reach fruition.
While espionage is not a new tactic, it’s surprising to see it reappear so quickly in a Walking Dead series after just recently appearing in the main series (Through, the delay between Dante’s death and the end of season ten is such that it feels like an entire other season has come in between). Thinking about it, though, I kind of don’t want Huck’s betrayal to be found out just yet. I would love to see what happens if it has more time to stew. Who knows? Maybe Huck will decide she doesn’t want to do what he mother wants her to do, and wouldn’t that make for an interesting place for season two to start?
