Fear the Walking Dead star Alycia Debnam-Carey arrives in Australia

It will be a warm and bright holiday season for Alycia Debnam-Carey, who arrived home in Australia to a warm (but socially distant) reception from her parents. After her mandatory quarantine ends, she’ll be able to enjoy the holidays at home with her family.

Thanks to the pandemic, Debnam-Carey has largely been in Los Angeles since March. Fear the Walking Dead was on a filming break when production shut down so Debnam-Carey had gone to Los Angeles. Travel restrictions to Australia were very strict in an attempt to eradicate the COVID-19 virus, which made it very hard for her to get home.

Debnam-Carey shared a picture of herself upon arrival in Australia. She’s wearing a mask and a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap, and even though we can’t see her mouth, we know she’s smiling because her joy is all in her eyes.

The reason for the smile is clear: Her parents have surprised her at the airport. Here’s what she had to say about the special moment: “I bawled my eyes out shortly after this was taken. My parents surprising me at the airport before my 2 week quarantine. It’s been a long year. Feeling very grateful I get to be back in Australia.”

Not surprisingly, Debnam-Carey’s Fear the Walking Dead costars all sent her messages about the touching reunion.

Now that she’s home she will have to quarantine for two weeks before interacting with family, but after being gone for so long there’s no question it will be nice knowing that family is nearby.

Filming is finally starting up again on the second half of Fear the Walking Dead season 6 after all these long months. Debnam-Carey is likely taking a break for the holidays so that she can go home. (This is not unusual; Debnam-Carey started filming in late January/early February for season 6 even though some cast members had been filming since December)

And with all of the craziness of 2020, if you can find a way to get home for the holidays while staying safe, that’s an incredibly good thing.

Next. Gratitude is a theme that runs deep in The Walking Dead Universe. dark

We’re so glad that Debnam-Carey will be spending time with her family this holiday season, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Alicia Clark when Fear the Walking Dead returns in 2021!
