1) People Don’t Forget The Things You Do. They May Not Forgive, Either

For the entirety of this season of Fear The Walking Dead thus far, Dakota has (To paraphrase Strand) been “a fount of sisterly love” towards her older sister, Virginia, and, for almost as long, it has been a bit of a mystery as to why, until this week.

On Sunday’s episode of Fear, we learned that at some point, Virginia killed her and Dakota’s parents; Why, we don’t know. Whatever the reason might be, though, is, at this point, irrelevant, because all Dakota knows is that her sister killed their parents, and…she has NOT forgiven her for it.

This is why Dakota has spent this entire season trying to undermine her sister, trying to encourage members of the Convoy to escape from the Pioneers, and why she looks up to Alicia so much, because she resents her sister for what she did, and doesn’t respect anything she does.

Like I said, Virginia’s reason is irrelevant, because, from what we can tell, her and Dakota’s parents weren’t abusive (Frankly, Dakota seems old enough to not have illusions about them if they were), and, if they were going to turn, it would seem stupid for Virginia to not just be honest about it, (Which, if we’re being even more frank, such stupidity is out of character for Virginia) so, now, all that’s left for Virginia is a little sister who wants nothing to do with her, the blame for which falls right at Virginia’s feet.

The reason I bring this up is because there are people out there who think that they can do whatever they damn well please to whomever they feel like doing it to (Even if it’s not so extreme as what Virginia did), and think that they can do it with impunity.

That ain’t how things work.

Somehow, someway, especially in a zombie apocalypse, the bad things that you do to other people will, eventually, boomerang on you. You might screw over someone today, and run into them in the apocalypse, and discover that they have not forgotten, and pay you back in spades. Similarly, you might screw over someone in the apocalypse, and they may turn around and not just wreck your life, but wreck anything you’ve built since the apocalypse started, all to pay you back.

Treat people the way you want to be treated, whether you’re in a zombie apocalypse or not, because, if you don’t, you may wind up getting treated just as poorly as you’ve treated someone else.
