5) Don’t Lose Sight Of Your Goal

As I mentioned a minute ago, for a moment at the end of this week’s episode of Fear, Morgan seemed like he was going to use Dakota as a bargaining chip, trading her back to Virginia in exchange for everyone else from the Convoy that the Pioneers apprehended. He also wasn’t afraid to kill several Rangers in order to do it (Something Alicia seemed rather appalled by).

For Morgan, the most important thing is to reunite his group, and find a proper home for them, one where they’ll be left alone. No cost was too high.

…That was, until Alicia, remembering what Morgan himself taught her, refused to let him trade Dakota, going so far as to be willing to take herself, Dakota, and Charlie back to The Diamond rather than join Morgan. That was a cost too high.

You see, Morgan realized that, if he went through with his plan, he would, ultimately, lose the very thing the plan was supposed to achieve: A reunion with his people, all of his people. What’s the point of doing something, if it costs you the thing you’re trying to get?

When planning for a zombie apocalypse, you need to have some idea of what you want. What that might be is up to you, but, what you need to do is make sure that you don’t do things to disrupt or jeopardize that goal.

If you do something that winds up damaging or even sacrificing your goal, then, you’ve made a critical mistake, and, one you can’t take back once you’ve made it.

Never lose sight of your goal, and never do things to screw it up.
