Here’s what we know about The Walking Dead season 11 so far

The Walking Dead will end its run in 2022 after 11 record-breaking seasons. Before we get to season 11, though, we will have six bonus episodes in an extended season 10. There’s a lot to look forward to even though the show is ending. Here’s everything we know about the show’s final season, and we’ll be sure to keep this space updated as new information becomes available.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Release Date

With 24 episodes in the extended season 11, it’s very possible that The Walking Dead season 11 will premiere in fall 2021 with 8 episodes, then move into spring 2022 with another 8 episodes before finishing its run with the final 8 episodes in fall 2022. We will have a much better idea once the six bonus episodes air in early 2021.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Cast Announcements

Since the six bonus episodes will film ahead of season 11, there have been no casting announcements but there is reason to believe that we could see a few actors from the bonus episodes carry over into season 11.

The two likely candidates are Robert Patrick and Okea Eme-Akwari.

Patrick, who will appear in episode 1019, “One More,” plays a character named Mays who meets Aaron (Ross Marquand) and Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam). We don’t know much about his character, but should Mays survive the episode then we could see him in season 11.

Eme-Akwari is particularly likely to return to The Walking Dead season 11 because he plays Maggie’s mysterious friend Elijah, the ninja seen with her in the season 10 finale. Though he will appear in the bonus episodes, it makes sense that his appearance will tie into flashbacks that revolve around Maggie’s absence, and then they will move forward with the story in season 11.
