Connecting The Walking Dead: ‘The Deepest Cut’

1) Elton’s Imaginary Friend
During a good bit of episode nine, we saw Elton holding council with Percy, as he desperately tried to keep him safe from empties, and do what he could to treat Percy’s wounds. This is all well and good, except for the fact that…Percy was unconscious.
This is, of course, something that’s been seen rather frequently in both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead, though much more so in the former than the latter, most recently in two of the final three episodes of the latest season, “Look At The Flowers” and “A Certain Doom”, wherein Carol “talked” to Alpha (Who was already dead) and Beta was “encouraged” by the Whisperers’ horde of walkers (Who are, obviously, quite dead), respectively.
If I’m being honest, I’m sort of surprised they did it this quickly in World Beyond, as it began in the second seasons of both of its predecessors: With Daryl being taunted by Merle (Whose location was unknown to Daryl at the time) and Nick Clark seeing his zombified girlfriend, Gloria, talking to him as he marched with a troop of infected across the Mexican desert. Elton’s “conversation” with Percy is a whole season (And at least two episodes) ahead of when it happened in either of the previous examples.
One wonders if we’re going to see more in season two, as it’s tough to imagine a scenario where there’d be an opportunity to do so. Who knows? Maybe Percy will talk to his uncle, Tony, about getting revenge on Huck…
