The Walking Dead: World Beyond: Who’s The Worst?

1) Gary Plaskett
In a series that seemed full of bad parents, Silas’s father, Gary, might have been the worst.
Our first introduction to Gary as a character wasn’t, actually, seeing him, but, hearing about him, specifically, people speculating that Silas killed him. Already, things aren’t looking good for our man, Gary.
The mere fact that the first thing we learn about him is, potentially, being murdered by his own son, particularly when that son seems not only normal, but, very quiet and unassuming, suggests either A) That Silas was a some kind of ticking time bomb who’d attack even people close to him out of the blue or B) That Gary had done something to warrant his own son attacking him.
Sure enough, it would turn out to be the latter.
As we learned in episode eight, “The Sky Is A Graveyard”, Gary had something of a history of being abusive to his family, first to his wife, then, eventually, to Silas, something, apparently, the community in Omaha had become all too familiar with. It was during such an incident, while slamming Silas’s head into a doorway and choking him, that Gary forced his son to defend himself, being beaten to a bloody, swollen mess by Silas, and receiving a gash to his stomach which would, ultimately, prove fatal.
While this first season of World Beyond saw parents reject their children, cast them out, and lie to them, Gary’s wanton abuse of Silas, eventually forcing his own son to kill him to defend himself, may just be the worst.
