5 things I want from the Walking Dead bonus episodes

4. Splinter – Princess’ background

It’s a fair thing to say that no character has made the impact that Princess has in her first scene in quite some time, and it’s great to know this episode will focus on her backstory.

Paolo Lazaro has done an incredible job of imbuing Princess with so much nuance, rather than just full on in-your-face crazy. It’s a joy to know we’re going to see what is beneath all those layers.

I also do really want to see Ezekiel connect with someone. His life is one ball of misery at the moment, so much so that he contemplated taking his own life. For him to come into contact with someone as full of life as Princess is a gift.

Ezekiel has been a proud and optimistic leader for a long time, but that strength has to come from somewhere. And with the death of Henry, the end of his marriage to Carol and his potential cancer diagnosis, he’s running low on positive input.

I want to see Ezekiel be able to absorb Princess’ positive energy and project back to her the hope and belief in happy endings that they clearly both need to believe in.
