The Walking Dead has one of the best fandoms around, and this is why

When you say you are a part of TWD Family, people who aren’t a part of this amazing group do not understand what it means. They say things like “that show is still on?” or something equally ridiculous. They don’t realize that, yes, The Walking Dead series is a vital part of this family, it is what initially brought us together, but it doesn’t end there.

TWD Universe is larger than one show. It is a group of fans, actors, crew members, cosplayers, writers, and many others. When this group comes together for a TWD event, it is like a family reunion. We truly care about one another, we check up on each other, support each other when the need arises, and yes, we love The Walking Dead.

And, it isn’t just the fans. The dedicated actors not only interact with fans, but some have even made lasting friendships with people who started out fans. Many times the actors will engage with those fans in need of some type of support. They will rally behind people by supporting their charities and using their own social media platforms to provide the maximum exposure for these charities.

The original series started over ten years ago, and the fandom has grown to include a huge number of people. Before 2020 kicked us in the teeth with a global pandemic, these fans would flock to cons, spending enormous amounts of money for meet and greets with their favorites. The actors have always been so obliging to get creative with the fans to come up with some iconic meet and greet photos.

Personally, I have a group of very close friends that I would never have met if it weren’t for TWD. We talk daily, exchange Christmas and birthday cards, host baby showers for new family members, and grieve with one another when tragedy hits our lives. I have met some of them in person, others I may never meet in real life, but I still consider them part of my TWD family.

One year ago, writers with Undead Walking wrote out our personal stories using My TWD Story as our theme. This is a great compilation of real TWD Family stories.

So, why is The Walking Dead the best fandom around? Because it isn’t just a fandom, it’s a family rooted in true love and friendship that also happens to enjoy an amazing series together.
