Greg Nicotero has a little present for horror fans with A Creepshow Holiday Special

If you need an escape from the saccharine sweetness of the holiday season, Greg Nicotero and the good folks at Shudder have the perfect solution: A Creepshow Holiday Special. This isn’t a Hallmark movie, folks. There’s blood, gore and lots of thrills and chills, and it’s coming to your television on December 18.

The Walking Dead’s Nicotero brings horror fans another holiday treat with a delightfully unexpected and thoroughly delightful Christmas-themed horror story. Nicotero wrote and directed the story, “Shapeshifters Anonymous,” based on a story by J. A. Konrath.

In “Shapeshifters Anonymous” Robert Weston (Adam Pally) seeks help from a group of people who might be uniquely suited to assist him with an unusual problem. The leader of the support group is a woman named Irena, played by Anna Camp, who tries to offer comfort to a very confused (and concerned) Robert.

Here’s the official synopsis from Shudder: “In the holiday themed, hour-long episode, “Shapeshifters Anonymous,” fearing he is a murderer, an anxious man searches for answers for his “unique condition” from an unusual support group.”

A Creepshow Holiday Special arrives hot on the heels of A Creepshow Animated Special, an all-new animated special that helped bridge the production gap that resulted from the pandemic. That special featured adaptations of classic horror stories from Stephen King and Joe Hill, and it was done as an animated feature so that most of the work, including the animation and voice work, could be done remotely.

Now that studios are learning to adapt to the new COVID-19 filming safety protocol, filming can continue on Creepshow’s second season, which promises bigger stories (and thrills) than its critically acclaimed first season.

Next. Review: A Creepshow Animated Special is a chillingly good time. dark

A Creepshow Holiday Special will launch just after midnight Eastern, 9pm Pacific, on Shudder. If you don’t have the new AMC+ bundle, you can order Shudder by itself.
