The Walking Dead holiday: What Michonne needs in her stocking

If The Walking Dead characters received stockings, what would you give Michonne?

It’s hard to carry over traditions from before the apocalypse into the post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead. Though the holidays might be remembered by those who experienced them, it doesn’t mean we can’t have fun thinking up ways to mix traditions and TWD. So if you were going to give a Christmas stocking to Michonne, what would be in it?

The last time we saw Michonne she was setting out on a mission to find Rick. Though she has his boots and a picture of herself with Judith, it looks like Rick was there but many years have passed. At this point, she has no idea if he’s alive or not. Regardless, she’s going to see what she can find and so we have a few ideas of what she might need along the way.

Phone Home

Thanks to the pandemic, it feels like such a long time ago that Michonne left to find Rick, but in the show’s season 10 timeline not much time has passed at all. Judith hasn’t told anyone her mother’s true intentions behind leaving – because we all know what that would do to Daryl – so for now they think she’s scouting something important.

There’s a possibility she’s still in walkie range, or even in range of Luke and Eugene’s communication system. It would be nice for her to be able to talk to Judith and RJ and hear that the Whisperers have been defeated. (Remember, Judith told her they beat them during their last conversation, but that was before the big battle)

Knowing that Michonne isn’t coming back for a while, it would be nice to have her chat with her kids.

A Bigger Katana

Michonne is known for wielding a katana with expert precision, but thanks to The Walking Dead: World Beyond we know that the Civic Republic Military (CRM) has lots and lots of firepower. In essence, while Michonne could totally get away with a sneak attack against the likes of the Saviors or the Whisperers, she’s facing an uphill battle with CRM.

If she has any hopes of finding Rick, she’s going to need more firepower. A bigger katana is really a metaphor for weapons, and lots of them, so she can protect herself and continue along the mission.

A Sign From Rick

So far, Michonne only has a bunch of hearsay about Rick and his possible whereabouts. Maybe Santa could deliver Michonne another sign that he’s alive and well. If she’s going to be successful, she needs to have something to keep her going. Finding someone who has seen him, or receiving another clue about where he has been, would be very helpful.

It will be a while before The Walking Dead fans learn what happened to Rick and whether Michonne ever reaches him – assuming that Michonne’s story ties into the Rick Grimes movies. Until then, it’s fun to imagine what Michonne might need on her mission and how Santa might be able to help.
