Undead Walking Podcast Dec. 21: So many TWD happenings
The latest episode of the Undead Walking podcast features lots of holiday news
Though The Walking Dead and all of its spin-offs are on hiatus, there is no shortage of TWD-adjacent news around the universe over the past week and that news is the subject of the latest episode of the Undead Walking Podcast.
December is traditionally a show month for The Walking Dead, with the main show usually bowing for its winter hiatus in the first week of the month. In 2020, though, the schedule was upended and what we used to know isn’t the case anymore. That said, though the show was dark there was plenty happening around the TWD Universe to keep things interesting.
TWD alum Sonequa Martin-Green was featured on the cover of Glamour Magazine, and in her interview she discussed everything from blazing a bold new trail in Star Trek: Discovery to raising her new baby girl.
Colman Domingo continues to dominate 2020 with an incredible performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which was released on Netflix on December 18. Domingo, along with a star-studded cast that includes Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman in his final performance, deliver a riveting adaptation of the seminal August Wilson play about a singer in the 1920s.
Also out December 18 was A Creepshow Holiday Special on Shudder. Written and directed by Greg Nicotero, this holiday special is nothing like the usual holiday fare you come to expect this time of year and it’s the perfect blend of horror and comedy in keeping with the Creepshow tradition.
And last, but certainly not least, is Danai Gurira’s fundraiser to help support the Democratic candidates in Georgia’s runoff election. She brought members of the TWD cast together, past and present, to help raise money for the cause and fans were treated to seeing Andrew Lincoln back in action with his TWD Family. It was quite a moment.
As a fandom, the TWD Family has been blessed with so many talented people working across all three shows in the TWD Universe and as always it’s important to be thankful that there is so much content from them outside of the show so that very few weeks go by without a member of the cast doing something special in the world.
