If Fear the Walking Dead characters received stockings, what would Santa give Strand?

It’s hard to carry over traditions from before the apocalypse into the post-apocalyptic world of Fear the Walking Dead. Though the holidays might be remembered by those who experienced them, it doesn’t mean we can’t have fun thinking up ways to mix traditions and Fear TWD. So if Santa was going to give a Christmas stocking to Victor Strand, what would be in it?

You can imagine what a young Victor Strand might have said to Santa when he saw him at the mall. There’s little doubt that the young man would have had a bit of con artist to him from the start (think Leave it to Beaver’s Eddie Haskell) and he probably told Santa how good he was even when he wasn’t.

Now that he’s one of Virginia’s trusted rangers, he’s living comfortably. He has power and a snappy wardrobe, but there are a few important things missing from his life these days. Santa might be able to help.

Reminder of His Purpose

There are two individuals who were always able to call Strand out for his con man ways: Thomas Abigail and Madison Clark. Even after Madison’s death, Strand continued to honor his fallen friend by watching over her daughter and living by her creed of trying to help people.

Now that he’s pledged his allegiance to Virginia (whatever that means) he needs something to get him back on track. This is about the time when Madison would arrive to kick him in the butt, so maybe in her absence a little sign from above would be appropriate? Surely Santa can send him a sign.

Redemption

One of Strand’s biggest assets is that no one truly hates him. Sure, he has a long list of people who don’t trust him after some of the things he’s done – Salazar, for one – but somehow he manages to bring people back to him.

Right now there’s a rift in his relationship with Alicia that’s weighing heavily on him. In his mind, everything he was doing in Lawton was to ensure her safety (and his own) but she didn’t see it that way after he left her.

Strand can function as a loner for a while, but he’s better off when he’s with other people and right now he needs a chance at redemption if he’s going to win his friends back.

A Stiff Drink

What can we say? Get the man a drink. He needs it.
