Tom Payne weds Jennifer Akerman in a quiet ceremony before Christmas
Tom Payne is known as Jesus, at least in The Walking Dead world. He played Paul Rovia, aka Jesus, on the series from season six until his death in season nine. Payne’s character was quite popular, and his death at the hand of the Whisperers shocked fans.
This week, Payne and his new wife Jennifer Akerman posted on social media announcing that they would be ending 2020 as man and wife. The couple was forced to postpone their wedding that was set to take place in April 2020.
Payne and Akerman have been a couple since 2013 and were engaged in 2018. They had set the April 11 date for the nuptials, but like most grand events of 2020, they had to postpone their special day.
Below Payne, ever so subtlely wished fans a Happy New Year from the new Mr. and Mrs. Payne.
Since leaving The Walking Dead, Payne has been playing Malcolm Bright on the hit series Prodigal Son. This series’s second season is set to release on January 12 on Fox.
Payne’s character, a criminal psychologist, whose father Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen) is a serial killer known as “The Surgeon.” Malcolm is responsible for his father’s arrest, and after being fired from the FBI, he took a position consulting for the NYC Police Department.
This series is engaging and dark and feeds into people’s obsession with true crime dramas. Starring along with Payne and Sheen are Lou Diamond Phillips, Halston Sage, Aurora Perrineau, Frank Harts, Keiko Agena, and Bellamy Young.
Akerman is a Swedish model, singer, and songwriter. She moved to LA when she was 18 and is the younger sister of actress Malin Akerman (27 Dresses and Watchmen.) Akerman and Lorenzo Jansson Kilman make up the music duo known as Bloke and Bird.
Congrats to Payne and Ackerman and their wonderful news to start 2021.
