Morton suffered a stroke in 2008 that brought her “close to death.” She suffered damage to her vertebral artery and caused her to enter into therapy to received assistance in learning to walk again. She was hit in the head by a piece of plaster that caused the injury. Thank goodness she was able to recover from this horrible accident.
Her character Alpha, on The Walking Dead series, was the leader of the mask-wearing group, the Whisperers, and she leads them on to do horrific things, including killing many people and putting their heads on pikes. Although she was a villain, she became a fan favorite because of her amazing ability to give this character a menacing personality. This trait was exactly what this character needed to be to convince the viewer that people followed her without question making her one of the best villains in the series.
Other projects Morton has worked on include the series Harlots, a TV mini-series, The Last Panthers and she was the voice of Ruby in the children’s series Max and Ruby.
Her next project is a series that is being developed for Netflix called The Sandman. This is a DC comic book adaptation of the comic book series of the same name. Filming was delayed due to the pandemic but was able to commence in October 2020. Morton will play Urania Blackwell, a CIA agent. This series has a slew of stars as cast members, including Kat Dennings, Taron Egerton, James McAvoy, Authur Darvill, Andy Serkis and Michael Sheen.
Our best wishes to Samantha Morton as she recovers from her illness. In her latest tweet, she assured everyone she is on the mend.
