Netflix releasing Andrew Lincoln’s newest project, Penguin Bloom, this month.

Fans of The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln were able to see him in a production of A Christmas Carol in December 2020. It was a delight to see Lincoln play Scrooge and his costume was amazing. Fans have been dying to hear information regarding The Walking Dead movies where Lincoln will be reprising his role as Rick Grimes. Until that time, we will get another opportunity to see him in his newest project, Penguin Bloom, where he stars alongside Naomi Watts that will release on January 27 on Netflix in North America, UK, France, and some Asian countries.

This film is based on the true story of Sam Bloom (Watts), who suffered a life-altering accident while traveling in Thailand.  Her husband Cameron, who Lincoln portrays, co-wrote a book about her story with Bradley Trevor Grieve of the same title as the film. The film is an adaptation of that story.

When their lives are changed forever after Sam’s accident, an unlikely stranger comes to them, giving them hope in a world where they thought they would find none.

This stranger, a magpie, who they name Penguin, had fallen from its nest and also needed healing after its accident. They form a special bond with this bird and it helps them all heal from the tragedy that altered their family dynamic.

The film’s official trailer gives us a feel for the tone and looks to be a wonderful movie.

As far as Lincoln and The Walking Dead movies go, there has been no official announcement regarding filming. But, Lincoln did give a little hope to fans in an interview with Associated Press when he discussed the possibility of filming in 2021.

"“It does feel like there is a certain sense of positivity and the cavalry’s coming with the vaccines,” he said. “And there’s a real sort of sense of a renewal, hopefully.”"

In the meantime, we can look forward to seeing Lincoln in Penguin Bloom on January 27 on Netflix.
