Maggie and Daryl feature in new Walking Dead tease
By Dawn Glen
After releasing the full trailer last week, AMC has released a new clip from The Walking Dead season 10 bonus episodes, featuring Maggie and Daryl.
The 10-second clip shows a group led by Maggie and Daryl in an area of what looks like shipping containers. Maggie removes her knife from a walker, while Daryl removes one of his arrows from another as they stalk purposefully through the frame.
Behind the pair, we can see Kelly, Maggie’s masked friend, who we now know is Elijah (played by Okea Eme-Akwari) and another mysterious man who appears to be traveling with them. The tall man in the long coat can be seen in previous trailers, walking with Maggie and her son, little Hershel.
It seems likely this tease is from “Home Sweet Home,” the first episode of the 6 episodes of 10c, which appears to focus largely on Maggie’s return. During the 6 year
off-screen time jump in season 9, Maggie – at the time the leader of the Hilltop community – chose to leave sometime after Rick’s disappearance on the bridge.
Maggie and Daryl are together again after Maggie’s return in the teaser for Walking Dead season 10c episodes.
Although Maggie said that she left in order to help Georgie, who had visited Hilltop, set up new communities, it’s likely that a large part of her reasoning was Negan. Her return at this time will no doubt cause much discomfort as Negan is walking free with her family and friends after killing Alpha and Beta.
How quickly she will find out the truth about Negan’s situation and that her close friend Carol let him out isn’t clear. However, it’s inevitably a topic that won’t stay hidden for long and was prevalent in the table-read we saw for the episode.
What are Maggie, Daryl and their group doing, and where is everyone else? The last time we saw the group, they were all on the road, having abandoned Alexandria due to Beta’s herd’s pressing presence.
Are they heading back to Alexandria now their enemy is defeated, or do they have another site in mind? Are they scouting to find a safe place and safe passage, or have they broken away so that Maggie doesn’t have to be around Negan? Is there already a new problem cropping up against our survivors?
The synopsis for “Home Sweet Home” includes an intriguing clue to what this pair may be facing when it says: “Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Maggie fight an unseen and unknown threat.” Could this “unseen” threat relate to one of the promotional photos released by Skybound, which shows Maggie with a man camouflaged head-to-toe lurking behind her?

Enemies adapting to the situation in new ways is a constant threat in their world and could keep our heroes on their toes before they can find a new, or old, secure place to stay.
Whatever is happening, it’s good to see Maggie back in the bosom of her family, leading in the powerful way she can and taking on everything the new world is throwing at her.
The Walking Dead season 10 returns to AMC for 6 episodes from February 28.
