The Walking Dead, Survival Rule Of The Week: A Cold, Cruel World
With all the talking I’ve been doing about winter in The Walking Dead, I figured that this week, I should probably dedicate my Survival Rule Of The Week to surviving in the winter that will inevitably come after the zombie outbreak begins to grow into a full-blown zombie apocalypse. Just because the dead may not do well when winter hits don’t mean it’s going to be all peaches and cream for you; There’s going to be a lot of new problems you may not have thought of, and I’m hoping to ensure that you’re ready for them.
To that end, I’m going to lay out a series of things I’m pretty sure you’ll need to keep yourself alive in the winter (However long that may last for you), and just why you’ll need them, using what we’ve seen of the season in The Walking Dead, and my own experiences with the colder times of the year. I’m sure that, if you live in a place where winters can get severe, you probably have most of these things available to you, and, if not, they’re probably not that hard to get a hold of.
Of course, while you will need to be wary of zombies when the snow starts to fall, if what we’ve seen in The Walking Dead holds true, they won’t be nearly as big of a threat. Still, the cold and everything else that goes along with it will be a constant menace for months and can easily pick up the slack as far as being a threat goes. If you have the things I discuss this week, maybe you can mitigate that a bit.
