The Walking Dead: Recap of Season Ten, Lines We Cross

As we anxiously await the premiere of The Walking Dead season 10c let’s take a look back at the lead-up to these bonus episodes.

The first episode in season ten aired way back on October 6, 2019. That is not a typo. I can’t believe it has been that long, but it has. So, our minds may be cloudy as to what happened at the beginning of this season.

The communities survived the winter season, and now they are training for battle at Oceanside. They have a very organized group of soldiers practicing on the beach, and the FX for this episode are amazing. Those wet, drippy walkers are grotesque and amazing.

Judith, RJ, and Jerry’s children collect shells and things from the beach. Judith notices that RJ has found a mask like those worn by the Whisperers. This puts everyone on alert that even though the Whisperers have been quiet, they must be lurking near.

The Walking Dead “Lines We Cross” are the Whisperers nearby?

A group lead by Aaron and Michonne heads out to search the area for signs of the enemy. They see signs that the Whisperers had been on the wrong side of the border that Alpha set up.

This is also the episode that Judith tells RJ the heartwarming story about The Brave Man.

Back at Alexandria, Gabriel receives the news of what’s been found. We see Negan reduced to the rank of a gardener. And, Sadiq is wrestling with visions from the Whisperer attack.

In this episode, we see Kelly struggle with the gradual loss of her hearing. Connie tells her it isn’t a disability but a damn superpower! We learn that Daryl has been learning ASL to be able to communicate with Connie.

Daryl and Carol have a great reunion after she returns from her time at sea being a fisherman. They take a ride on Daryl’s bike and do some hunting, where Daryl tells Carol they need to respect Alpha’s borders. They also talk of going off on their own on the bike to see who is left out in the world.

A fire is started by a satellite that falls from the sky and lands near Oceanside. This is on Alpha’s side of the border, but if they don’t put it out, it could burn their hunting area and possibly Oceanside.

We see another amazing scene where the group fighting the fire must ward off all the walkers that were drawn by the fire, in rushes Alexandria’s residence to help with the fire and the walkers.

Carol and Daryl discover a ravine and talk more about leaving. Something catches Carol’s eye, and we see Alpha emerge from the woods. Across the ravine, the two stare each other down.

This sets the stage nicely for what is to come in season 10.

The Walking Dead episode “Home Sweet Home” is scheduled to air on February 28 on AMC and will air on AMC+ early on February 21.
