5) Sooner Or Later, You Have To Face The Music

As I mentioned in the beginning, one of Maggie’s problems (In fact, the one that led her to leave Virginia in the first place) was the fact that Negan was still alive.

As I said before, it makes sense, what with him brutally killing Glenn, you can see why Maggie would have issues with it.

However, unless Maggie was just going to stay away from the communities forever, the “Negan Issue” was one that, eventually, she was going to have to get over. I’m not saying it would be easy, but I am saying it would be the reality.

Even though she’s justified in her hatred of Negan, I think Maggie failed to understand why Rick spared him. Maybe, she never really tried to understand why Carl wanted Rick to spare him in the first place.

This has led to her never really resolving her situation regarding Negan and even leaving her home to get away from the issue altogether. The real problem though, by not dealing with it, just left the whole Negan thing waiting for her when she got back, just as unresolved as it was when she left.

And, with Negan having (Sort of) earned his place in the community by killing Alpha and helping to kill Beta, he’s not going anywhere. If Maggie wants to keep the peace, she’s going to have to face the issue and get past her hatred of Negan.

In a zombie apocalypse, even if you don’t want to, even if you’re afraid to, if you have some kind of problem, sooner or later, you’re going to have to face up to it. As I’ve been saying throughout, putting off, or avoiding, or outright ignoring problems doesn’t fix anything. At best, it just means you’re delaying the inevitable; At worst, you’re just making things harder for yourself.

Obviously, different problems will require different solutions, maybe even some roundabout ones, but rarely will there be problems in a zombie apocalypse that are solved by not dealing with them.

If you want to get a problem taken care of, you have done the work of taking care of it.
