The CDC has suggestions to prepare for a zombie apocalypse
By Renee Hansen
Many fans of The Walking Dead fandom feel they are prepared for an apocalypse for tips they’ve picked up on the series, by books they have read, or general “prepper” readiness. But, would we really be able to survive the undead?
The CDC wants to make sure you are prepared. They even have a Zombie Preparedness page on their website. The site states what started as a tongue-in-cheek campaign to drive more people to their site has become a great resource.
There are many tools to help you prep for a ZA. There is a blog, resources for teachers, a poster that you can print off and hang wherever you need to, and a Zombie Preparedness Graphic Novel that you can download.
This campaign was originally released in 2011, from what I can find. But, the page is updated often as it was just reviewed last week.
Why bring up zombie preparedness in 2021?
According to Fox59, Nostradamus predicted that in 2021 a scientist would produce a virus that will turn humans into the undead. And, during my research, he also predicted Bitcoin…so there’s that!
In his book Les Propheties, he states:
"Few young people: half−dead to give a start. Dead through spite, he will cause the others to shine, And in an exalted place some great evils to occur: Sad concepts will come to harm each one, Temporal dignified, the Mass to succeed. Fathers and mothers dead of infinite sorrows, Women in mourning, the pestilent she−monster: The Great One to be no more, all the world to end"
So, it doesn’t really say that zombies will come, but they are “half-dead,” and there are translators of the book who have said that could mean zombies. Yes, I know it’s a stretch. But we are all fans of TWD here, so please play along.
I took a poll of our Twitter followers, and it looks like many think they are ready!! (click here to see the results of the poll)
Be sure to visit the CDC Zombie Preparedness page for some fun, but it gives many great ideas for being prepared for a ZA or any natural disaster. There is a checklist of items on the blog page that many have probably already acquired due to our current pandemic. Many comments on the blog also offer up some other ideas of things to have on hand.
Print out the poster and hang it around your office or home, or local grocery. Hey, we’ve got to have some kind of fun!!
