Season 7

Similar to season 8, season 7 of The Walking Dead suffered from the plot feeling drawn-out and moving sideways rather than forward.

This was also the season that drove many viewers away from the show due to the brutal killing of Glenn and Abraham at the hands of Negan in the premiere. The sense of dread and hopelessness instilled in both characters in that first episode set the tone for the rest of the season, which was undeniably taxing on viewers.

For as many cool moments as season 7 had – the communities uniting to save Alexandria in the finale, Carl sneaking into the Whisperer compound, and Daryl and Rick reuniting at Hilltop are some of the standouts – it was too depressing and slow to move up any higher on the list.
