Season 3

After season 2 set Rick’s group up for interesting journeys and developed them into more dynamic characters, season 3 took the ball and ran with it.

This was the season that the group found their way to the prison. While having a seemingly secure home with fences was great for the survivors, there was no shortage of challenges ahead for them. Be it the prisoners holed up there, Lori’s pregnancy, walker bites, or a brand new human threat, there were plenty of obstacles for Rick’s group to overcome.

Season 3 featured The Governor’s introduction, one of the show’s best and most menacing villains. While at first, he seems like a reasonable man just trying to do what he can to lead his community at Woodbury, his evil nature and instability are quickly revealed through things like the community walker fights and how he treats Maggie and Glenn when they are captured. His calm nature is unnerving, especially when interacting with people from Rick’s group.

While the darkness hanging over the season from the Governor and the deaths of Lori, Andrea, and Merle can be a lot to handle at times, it’s worth noting that season 3 also had some great positive moments, such as the introduction of the legendary Michonne and Glenn’s marriage proposal to Maggie.
