Ranking every season of The Walking Dead from worst to best

Season 4
Season 4 of The Walking Dead is most known for how it developed characters in amazing and unique ways.
The fall of the prison halfway through the season put the characters into groups that fans wouldn’t expect to work or be interesting – Carol and Tyreese, Daryl and Beth, and Glenn and Tara, to name a few. Thankfully, these groupings really did work.
Daryl and Beth (probably the most unlikely duo) bonded over their pasts and who they’ve lost, showing us a different side to Daryl that we hadn’t really seen before. This was also the time Rick and Michonne truly connect as they journey with Carl to Terminus, which eventually results in one of the biggest power couples in the show.
It’s impossible to talk about season 4 without bringing up “The Grove.” Highly lauded as one of The Walking Dead‘s best episodes, “The Grove” follows Carol and Tyreese on their journey with the three children that Tyreese saved from the prison. What follows is an extremely heartbreaking, tragic, and emotional journey for the characters, with Tyreese coming to forgive Carol for what she did back at the prison.
Overall, season 4 was a tale of two halves of a season – half in the prison and half on the road to Terminus. Bringing unexpected character pairings together and having each group hold a similar goal of reaching Terminus, season 4 of The Walking Dead was a stellar season that fans could constantly go back to.
