There is a really cool fan theory floating around social media regarding The Walking Dead fandom. We all know we will be introduced to Robert Patrick’s character Mays in “One More,” which will air on March 14 on AMC.

This episode will focus on Gabriel and Aaron during a supply run where some things don’t go as expected. They meet up with this new guy Mays, and he doesn’t seem to be a friendly sort of fellow from the table read of the episode.

After watching “Home Sweet Home,” where viewers were introduced to a new threat known as the Reapers, and fans are speculating that Mays could be Pope. In the episode, this hulking beast of a man, who is assumed to be a member of the Reapers, attacks Maggie and Daryl before blowing himself up with a grenade. He refuses to give his name or answer any of the questions Maggie has for him but does utter these words “Pope marked you.”

This leaves all of us wondering who Pope is? And why does he want Maggie and her people killed?

Could Robert Patrick’s character be the leader of the Reapers?

There is always another group to watch out for in The Walking Dead series. This shows that during an apocalypse, the walkers aren’t the only threat.

Now, this is all pure speculation, but it is a solid theory. We learn of a new group that has already destroyed Maggie’s most recent village and killed many people there. Out of nowhere, this man comes and kills many of the remaining survivors of that village. Then he attacks Maggie, and the only information we get from him is that he has done this on Pope’s orders. Maggie fears that the Reapers have followed them, and the group will lead them right to  Alexandria.

We also know that this new guy will be introduced in “One More.” His name is Mays, but that could be his first name and Pope his last. He doesn’t seem to be a friendly guy when he talks to Gabriel. He tells him there is nothing left in this world but thieves and murderers.

In the promo video for season 10c, we see many clips of Mays, Gabriel, and Aaron. None of them look to be good situations. We see lots of action in the clips and Aaron holding a gun to his own head! What could have driven him to that?

The synopsis for “One More” reads:

"Small tragedies lead to bigger tragedies as faith is broken and optimism is fragmented when they are put to the ultimate test."

This theory could be way off base, but I like it and think it has some solid foundation.
