The Walking Dead: meet Leah, played by Lynn Collins, in Find Me

Season 10c of The Walking Dead promised we would meet some new characters. In this week’s episode, “Find Me,” we meet Leah, who Lynn Collins plays.

We learn that Leah is someone Daryl met during his time away when he isolated himself from the main group to look for Rick. In this episode, we discover that Carol knew where Daryl set up his camp and made frequent visits to give him news, supplies and check on her dearest friend.

The episode chronicles Daryl’s time away and the emotions he endured searching for his best friend and brother Rick Grimes. Daryl found himself in a very vulnerable state, and when he found another person as isolated as himself, a connection was formed.

We meet the new character, Leah, in this episode and we see where Dog comes from

As soon as Dog was introduced, fans went wild over this character. Norman Reedus has always made it known that he has asked for Daryl to have a dog since early in the series. Showrunners never allowed this to happen for many different reasons. So, when it was made public that Daryl would finally get his pet, it was a great day for Daryl fans.

The tie in here is that Dog started as Leah’s companion. We first meet Dog as a cute little puppy who comes to visit Daryl. Eventually, Daryl meets Dog’s owner Leah and they do not hit it off.

Leah has been on her own for a very long time and has lost love ones, most heartbreakingly, her son. As with many children in The Walking Dead, they lost their parents, and people stepped in to care for these children. This was also the case with Leah and her son. But, the pain of losing the child doesn’t alter when the child was not biologically yours.

Leah is a fighter and a loner; it sounds like another character we know. The connection between Daryl and Leah was an emotional one. Daryl was in a very vulnerable state after losing Rick. Daryl and Rick had become closer than Daryl ever was to his biological brother Merle, and this loss is one that it would be hard for Daryl to come back from. That compounding with the fact the Carol was now married to Ezekiel, and I am sure he had mixed emotions about that.

It is unclear if Leah died, was taken or is just gone off to be alone again. Will she ever return to TWDU? Only time will tell.

Who is Lynn Collins, the actress who portrayed Leah?

Lynn Collins is known for her work in True Blood, Manhunt: Unabomber and X-Men Origins: Wolverine and John Carter. She also starred alongside Jeremy Irons, Al Pacino and Joseph Fiennes in the Merchant of Venice in 2004.

When she was first announced as the actress to play Leah, I thought she looked familiar. After doing some research, I found that I remember her from 13 going on 30. She played Wendy, Matt Flamhaff’s (Mark Ruffalo) fiance, in that film.
