The Walking Dead: where things stand ahead of episode 1019, One More
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead will air its 150th episode tonight. “One More” follows Gabriel and Aaron on a supply run and marks the series’s monumental moment.
The teaser for this episode looks to be action-packed, and we will meet newcomer Mays (Robert Patrick). In the table read for this episode, we see a small part of the conversation between Mays and Gabriel, and it isn’t too friendly.
After last week’s controversial episode “Find Me,” it will be good to turn our attention to a new subject, and an episode with Aaron and Gabriel is just what we need.
Events leading up to this episode
Maggie has returned. This is important as it brings about a new set of problems and raises new concerns with Negan living in Alexandria. Maggie has said she could learn to live with Negan, but that has yet to be seen.
Along with Maggie, new allies have joined the group that includes her loyal companions Elijah and Cole. There is also the introduction of a new threat, the Reapers. Little is known about them yet, but if the encounter they had with one of the members in the woods is any indication, they will mean trouble for the communities. We already know they didn’t hesitate to destroy Maggies most recent village and killed many of the inhabitants there.
The Whisperer war is over, which means Alpha and Beta are no longer, but this war ended with heavy losses. Many lives were lost during this war, and the huge loss of Hilltop and Alexandria has suffered by some of its walls being destroyed.
Food must be scarce. Daryl was going off to hunt in “Find Me,” and Carol went along with him. They ended up fishing but had no luck hunting. In “One More,” Aaron and Gabriel are off on a supply run, and it doesn’t look very successful in the opening minutes of the episode.
What’s next?
We will find out the fate of Eugune, Ezekiel, Yumiko and Princess in “Splinter.”
“Diverged” will see Daryl and Carol head off on individual paths going into their own type of survival mode.
We will get some Negan back story in “Here’s Negan.”
This will all bridge us into season eleven. Although it is the final season, it will consist of 24 episodes, allowing for much more of the story to unfold.
The Walking Dead airs on AMC Sunday nights at 9 pm est.
AMC+ members can stream the episodes on Thursday before the AMC airing.
