The Walking Dead brought some serious heat with season 10, episode 19. In this episode titled “One More,” Father Gabriel and Aaron have set off on a two-week-long journey to find supplies. During this trip, they encounter a hostile survivor named Mays. Mays is a person who has both faced and caused hardship during the apocalypse.

During this crazy encounter with Mays, Father Gabriel and Aaron are forced to play a game of Russian roulette. While that game unaltered is a disgusting thing to force people to play, Mays told them they do have the option to instead aim at each other for their turn. Both of these amazing men have children waiting for them, and the fact they would both die to save the other is beyond admirable.

Picking between these two was extremely difficult, but after much deliberation…

This week’s MVP is Aaron!

This episode is a shining example of why so many people love Aaron. From the moment we met him, while not as seasoned as Rick’s group, he would do anything for the people of Alexandria. Now so many seasons later, he is doing the same thing. He is such a kind character who only wants the best for others, and he would lay down his life for a friend.

Even if he would have died in this episode and he never saw Gracie again, he would be smiling down from The Walking Dead heavens knowing Gabriel would be with Rosita and Coco again. Even in their time at Mays, he found little stuffed animals to bring back for the kids. Aaron is definitely a person of pure heart.

This episode of The Walking Dead showcased what amazing characters Gabriel and Aaron are; even when their lives are on the line, they had each other’s backs.

During ‘One More,” Aaron and Gabriel got drunk and had a deep discussion. Father Gabriel talked about faith and how he didn’t want to do certain religious activities anymore. Aaron made it a point to try and let Gabriel know how much his talents are valued and that the people would appreciate him. Even though Aaron is certainly feeling helpless, he is still on this mission, and helping those around him shows what a great person he is.

This week the runner-up who lost just by hair is Gabriel, and the only reason is that he seems to be losing himself. Despite the type of person Mays was, Gabriel was a bit too ruthless with the kill. Then after watching Mays’s brother commit suicide, Gabriel doesn’t skip a beat and simply grabs the gun back and takes some of the food supplies.

While The Walking Dead requires a hardened survivor, you don’t want to lose all sense of humanity, and it seems like Gabriel could be headed in that direction. He could also be bottling up all his emotions and heading towards a breakdown; both of these options are sad. Fingers crossed, this last location search with Aaron can get him in a better headspace.

Overall it’s clear after this episode that Aaron and Gabriel and fiercely loyal characters who anyone would be lucky to have on their side. Ross Marquand, Seth Gilliam, and Robert Patrick all gave stellar performances making this a stand-out episode from The Walking Dead 10C! Congratulations, Aaron, wear your crown proud and make it back to Gracie safe.
