The Walking Dead: A captured Princess struggles in a clip from Splinter
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead’s bonus episodes have given us some great content. We saw the return of Maggie, Hershel, with newcomers Elijah, Cole. Daryl and Carol had a major argument, and we saw a back story of the time Daryl met a new woman, Leah. We also saw Aaron and Gabriel on a supply run when they encounter a dangerous man, and things go sideways.
Sunday, March 21, we will get the fourth of the six episodes, “Splinter,” that will focus on Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko and Princess and their capture by the Commonwealth soldiers.
At the end of the season 10b finale, the group was held at gunpoint by soldiers from a new community called Commonwealth. They were headed for a rendevous with Stephanie, whom Eugene met via radio contact. They set up a meeting, but things didn’t go as planned when our group arrived at the agreed-upon location.
Below is a clip of Princess who is being held in a train car that is giving us major Terminus vibes. The same unknown circumstances and the rail car holding cell. In the clip, she seems to be in the midst of a panic attack, understandable so.
What is in store for Princess and the rest of the group?
From the clip above, we can tell the group has been separated. We also see that Princess is struggling with thoughts of her capture by the armed soldiers. She starts to recite the state capitals, which seems to be a coping tool for her. In true Princess form, she smiles when she realizes she learned a new capital. This springs her into action.
The Commonwealth will be the largest, most advanced community that has been encountered in the series. If this story follows the comics, the Commonwealth is 50,000 people strong, and they have modern amenities similar to those before the outbreak.
“Splinter” will introduce us to the Commonwealth, which will most likely be a focus in season eleven.
The Walking Dead episode “Splinter” will air on AMC Sunday, March 21.
AMC+ members can stream this episode on Thursday, March 18.
