The Walking Dead cast and crew have outdone themselves with the bonus episode production in season 10. The FX are amazing, the acting is some of the best of the series and the digital filming, well it just can’t be beat.

We are coming into an episode that will set up a comic book storyline that fans have been dying to see played out in the series. “Splinter” will pick up right where Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko and Princess were being held at gunpoint by the stormtrooper-looking soldiers who are from the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth is a huge community, unlike anything we’ve seen in the series so far. If the storyline follows the comics, we will see a community of 50,000 people strong with advancements similar to those before the outbreak.

Does Splinter introduce a character from the comics?

In the teaser above, we get a glimpse of the Commonwealth Interrogator, played by Jessejames Locorriere, questioning Princess. Talking Dead also released a clip from “Splinter,” giving us a better view of this new character. We see him asking similar questions that a certain Lance Hornsby asked of people in the comics. Hornsby, in the comics, is the person who welcomes newcomers and takes down their names and where they have come from. Even though the man in the teaser is wearing the armor of the soldiers and the character wears a sports coat in the comics, this could be the same guy.

Hornsby is a pleasant enough guy but does have the muscle of the Commonwealth soldiers on his side. It will be interesting to see how the series incorporates the comic book characters and story into the series. It is well known they don’t always follow the comics, but we do get moments when the comic book comes directly off the pages onto the screen.

“Splinter” is sure to be an action-packed episode and it will give us some insight into who Princess is.
