It has been a while since Walking Dead fans have seen the Governor. David Morrissey played said villain in seasons three and four. Now Morrissey is starring in a new period drama with Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor and Downton Abby’s Matthew Goode.

Bustle reports that the film is set in 1920s England and The Colour Room tells the tale of Clarice Cliff (Dynevor), a working-class woman who revolutionizes the workplace in the 20th century. She is a factory worker turned artisan who is responsible for the creation of the Art Deco “Bizzare” range.

Morrisey will play Art Designer Fred Ridgeway, who serves as an appetence for Cliff. By his support and that of eccentric factory owner Colley Shorter (Goode) and her fellow female workers, she ensures the factory’s survival during the Great Depression.

David Morrissey played a villain on The Walking Dead, but his credits list is very diverse.

Morrissey did an amazing job portraying The Walking Dead villain the Governor, aka Philip aka Brian. He was cruel and manipulative, which are always great characteristics of a villain. He reigned down on Rick Grimes group, but in the end, goodness prevailed, and the Governor was destroyed.

He started his acting career at Everyman’s Youth Theatre in Liverpool. The first acting gig he had was in the early 80s in a mini-series called One Summer.

Over the course of his career, his projects have ranged from playing Little John in the 1991 film Robin Hood to Colonel Brandon in a mini-series of  Sense and Sensibility in 2008. When Morrissey was killed off of The Walking Dead, he transitioned into the series called Extant. This series also cast fellow Walking Dead actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan ahead of his stint on TWD.

More recently, Morrissey can be seen in the series The Singapore Grip, set in colonial-era Singapore. He plays Walter Blackett, whose family controls a leading trade company. The series is based on the 1978 novel of the same name.

He is has been named by the British Film Institute as “one of the most versatile English actors of his generation.”
