3) Don’t Make Rash Decisions.

Even with her perception of things around her mildly skewed, Princess was, to her credit, very rational about dealing with the Commonwealth soldiers, even if she didn’t realize it for the most part.

As her anxiety mounted from being inside the boxcar, Princess began to consider trying to escape. However, she was repeatedly talked down from this course of action by “Yumiko” and “Eugene”…of course, it wasn’t Yumiko and Eugene, but rather, a more rational part of Princess’s brain trying to get her to calm down and think things through, appearing to her as Yumiko and Eugene.

I don’t think I can overstate how important thinking through what you’re going to do in a zombie apocalypse is. So many horrible things can happen to you as a result of you jumping into things without taking a second to consider what you’re going to do and what you’re walking into.

Something as simple as turning a corner in a city or town in a zombie apocalypse can become a disaster if you don’t think things through — For all you know, there could be a herd of zombies standing around on the other side — and, all it takes is a minute’s worth of thinking to realize what you might be walking into, and, how you might be able to deal with it.

Just jumping in with some knee-jerk reactions can lead to you having way more problems than you’re prepared for and certainly more than you need. For example: In my “herd around the corner” scenario, if you were to stroll around the corner, you’d walk right into that herd and probably get eaten, where doing something as simple as throwing a rock around the corner could both tell you if it’s safe, and distract the zombies there if it isn’t.

It is probably the easiest safety precaution you can take in any situation, never mind a zombie apocalypse, and yet, it feels like it’s the one least taken.
