Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead comic, has a positive outlook for the franchise. Even though the comic storyline has ended and the flagship series has already started filming its final season. Kirkman can keep a positive attitude because fans will still have much more to look forward to.

Fear The Walking Dead will return to AMC on April 11 for the remaining episodes in its sixth season. The series has also started filming for its seventh season, with episodes set to release yet this year. World Beyond, the second spinoff series, is filming its second season. This series was always scheduled to be a limited series with only two seasons.

Once The Walking Dead series is complete, Carol and Daryl will get their own spinoff series. Kirkman and Norman Reedus have remarked that this spinoff will be different than the others we have seen. What this means exactly is anyone’s guess.

What else is in store for The Walking Dead Universe in the future?

In an interview with Collider where he was promoting his new Invincible series, Kirkman went into what is next for the TWD franchise.

The Carol and Daryl spinoff has yet to get an official name, but Kirkman is fond of Carol and Daryl’s rhyming and thinks there is a quick and easy theme song there! He cannot reveal about this series, but he did share that Carol and Daryl are featured heavily in the eleventh season.  We can expect to hear more about this spinoff series closer to the wrap of season eleven.

Kirkman talked about Tales of the Walking Dead. This will be an anthology series that could be past, present or future stories focused on characters in TWDU.  The season for this series will be shorter than that of the other series and will allow the creators to do things differently than before. He is hopeful it will last longer than just one season.

Fans are anxious to hear anything about the Rick Grimes movies. We know that Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, is stuck in the UK until travel is safe due to the pandemic. In an interview with Comicbook.com, Kirkman talked about this movie being a Rick story. He also stated this wouldn’t just be an expansion of the series. It will be a story that makes sense to be played out as a movie instead of a series. The story will be different, but it will still be the Rick Grimes who TWD fans love.

dark. Next. The Walking Dead Universe: New digital series Dead in the Water

So, there is the news that Kirkman can tell at this time. It isn’t the answers some are looking for, but at least we know many things are coming our way in TWDU.

AMC will air The Walking Dead episode “Diverged” on March 28.

AMC+ members can stream this episode on March 25.
