14) Once Princess talks down the Ezekiel hallucination and begins to walk away, you can hear the other conductor walker echo Princess’s own words, “Come back for me…”.

15) Umm…why were the actual walkers (That Princess imagined as being dressed like train conductors) bound together with a yoke? Was someone using them as pack animals the way Jed was back in season nine’s “Who Are You Now”?

16) Upon returning to her boxcar, Princess explains to the Commonwealth soldier she attacked that she suffered ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Her active imagination was her way of coping with all of that. This would explain why she was dressing up walkers when Eugene, Yumiko, and Ezekiel first met her.

17) Had the Commonwealth soldiers known what Princess was doing the entire time (Her escaping the boxcar, talking to herself, attacking her guard, etc.)? After the guard’s quick turn around from frightened probationary officer to a confident interrogator, I’m starting to think they were all just waiting around for Princess to accept their terms and answer their questions.

18) This episode gets its name from the splinter Princess gets in her finger near the beginning of the episode, how it reminds her of her past, and how it activates her vivid imagination. That said, it could also be a reference to how, essentially, everything we see through Princess’s eyes is, in reality, a splinter of what’s actually going on, that it’s Princess going off of her imagining a worst-case scenario. As far as quotes go, though, it likely comes from Princess (After being asked what was wrong when she winced giving the guard back his handcuffs) saying: “Nothing. The splinter came out”.
