The Walking Dead: Did promo seal Michonne’s return?

The Walking Dead has released some really cool, although vague, teaser clips during each bonus episode. There is a theory out there that the most recent one, of a gavel, locks in the fact that Michonne will return. Now, this would be an amazing thing to happen for the final season, but I am skeptical that this is a fact.

I haven’t finished the comics; yes, I hang my head in shame as I type that. But I know some of the comic storyline involving Michonne. Guys, I don’t think she is coming back. Danai Gurira is a busy woman, and this series hasn’t been good at keeping major secrets for a long time.

I can’t remember the last time we had something as significant as Michonne returning not be kept a secret. I would venture that Carl dying might have been the last one, which was in season eight or perhaps Jesus’ death in season nine.

Will Michonne return for the final season of The Walking Dead?

We all know Michonne is on a mission looking for Rick. She has hope now that she knows Rick did not perish at the bridge and could still be found alive. I don’t believe this storyline is something that will be seen at the end of this series. This could be some storyline of The Walking Dead movies and would be an amazing story to be told.

The gavel, although reminiscent of Michonne’s comic storyline, will probably be played out by someone else in the series. My money is on Yumiko. She was a lawyer, and the court-type setting of that gavel clip could be a clue to her storyline. She could never take up the whole Michonne story, but she could play out her own version of it.

We all know the series will often take a different storyline than the comics. Although comic fans aren’t always keen on this, viewers of the series have no problems with this because they know no different.

This is purely speculation on my part as a writer, but I don’t see Michonne reappearing for the final season of the series. I would be happy to be proven wrong as I feel she is a pillar in the series.
