1) Following the pattern for this portion of the season, the recap of previous events was narrated by Carol. Unlike the previous ones, Carol’s focused only on the very tail end of the Whisperer War…like, only the very end of “A Certain Doom,” to be exact, putting much more focus on the beginning of this half-season.

2) During her recap, Carol explains that the Whisperers ruined Alexandria’s crops and that the horde devoured most of the animals in the area. This is the first we’ve heard of this food shortage problem so far and its causes, which goes a long way to explaining Carol and Father Gabriel’s rather sudden pessimism in “Find Me” and “One More,” respectively.

3) This episode gets its name from how the road Daryl and Carol took from Leah’s cabin split in two (Literally diverged) and the separate misadventures they had (Made worse because of their separation).

4) According to Jerry, among other things, the Whisperers messed with Alexandria’s solar panels. Considering Alpha’s whole thing was trying to lead a more primal existence and destroy any civilizations she came across, this sounds like something right in the Whisperers’ wheelhouse.
