4) When You Do Bad Things For Bad Reasons, Other People Won’t Like It

This episode ended on something of a cliffhanger, with Morgan having realized that Dakota had shot John and arranging a meeting with Virginia, all while Dakota, now exposed, demanded Morgan allow her to live at his new riverbed community. Morgan was, not too surprisingly, quite displeased about what Dakota did, and it left you wondering if Morgan would exchange Dakota for the rest of the convoy and ditch her with the sister that she hated so much.

It also made you wonder how everyone else, especially June, would react to Dakota, knowing that she murdered John. Would they tolerate her at the riverbed? Would Morgan try to get her to understand what she did was wrong and try to counsel her the way he did for Alicia? Would Alicia be soured on her new, more pacifist mindset if she realized that Dakota killed John?

There’s a lot of questions heading into the next episode, most of which revolve around how everyone else is going to react to Dakota’s senseless violence.

You see, in a zombie apocalypse, while, yes, there aren’t, necessarily, any laws saying that you can’t do things…there will be other people around. If you do something that the other people around you disapprove of, it will make any future attempts to coexist with them very awkward.

In fact, that’s an understatement. I think if other people in any potential group you might be part of discovers that you’ve done something like Dakota did — Kill an innocent person for an idiotic reason — they would, at best, exile you to the wilderness, and, at worst, put you down for being a senseless murderer.

So, make sure that the things you do in a zombie apocalypse are for a good reason because if you do something violent for something other than a good reason, it might wind up being the last thing you ever do.
