Norman Reedus will be a guest at Anthrax’s 40th Anniversary event
By Renee Hansen
Fans of The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus know that he is a big fan of the band Anthrax. In 2016 he even jammed with them on stage at their concert in Atlanta. Now, Reedus is slated as a guest for the 40th Anniversary event for the band.
Many people remember the video that sent Walking Dead and Anthrax fans into a frenzy when Reedus joined the band on stage and played bass alongside Anthrax bassist Frank Bello. This came about because Scott Ian, guitarist for the band, is friends with Walking Dead director and FX guru Greg Nicotero. He invited the band to tour the show’s set, and the band wanted to repay them for an amazing behind-the-scenes experience, so they invited them to their concert.
Reedus watched the concert from the side stage area, and Bello gave him his backup bass for the show’s final song. You can read the whole story in Bello’s interview with Louder Sound.
Norman Reedus will be a guest at Anthrax’s 40th Anniversary event
Anthrax is a band comprised of singer Joey Belladonna, bassist Frank Bello, guitarists Scott Ian and Jon Donais and drummer Charlie Benante. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the band, and they can’t let a milestone like that pass by. Reedus is listed on the guests who will also attend the virtual event. Loudwire shared the information for the event and some social media events leading up to the celebration.
Will Reedus join them on stage once again? I guess you will have to watch the live-streamed event on July 18, 2021, to find out. The guest list is impressive along with Reedus other guests include Chuck D, Corey Taylor, Dave Grohl, Dave Mustaine, Gary Holt, Gene Simmons, Henry Rollins, John Carpenter, Kerry King, Mike Patton, Nergal, Michael Poulsen, Rob Zombie, Robert Trujillo, Roger Miret, Darryl McDaniels, Slash and Tom Morello.
Another cool Walking Dead/Anthrax tie-in is that Scott Ian played a walker in season five. You can see his transformation and the scene on Scott Ian’s Bloodworks.
Reedus will return to AMC in the final season of The Walking Dead that premieres on August 22, 2021.
