5) “Messiah Complex” In The Leadership.

A “messiah complex” is when a person or a group of people believe (Or, at least, pretend to believe, in the case of some cult leaders) that they will save humanity or save the Earth, usually very soon. In some form or another, most cults have leadership that tells their flock that they themselves, or the cult as a whole, by following them, will save the world. This idea is often the linchpin of a cult, the thing which holds the whole operation together.

Why are the cultists blindly loyal to the leader or the cult? Because they’re going to save the world, of course!

How is the cult or the leader going to save the world? By creating a “perfect society,” duh!

And, how do you create this perfect society? Why, by destroying the old one, don’t you know?!

See how this all ties together? The seed that the cult sprouts from, and all the awful things they do are the fruit.

There is no greater indication that a group of people is a cult than if they go around saying that they’re going to “save the world” or something along with that idea. It puts them “above” everyone else who isn’t within the cult by making them the Jesus equivalent, essentially, making the cult “divine.”

On the plus side, this can make cults relatively easy to spot because, with them so convinced of how they’ll save the world, they’re not that shy about it, and, sooner or later, they’ll tell people who’ll listen. Once you know that they’re in a cult, you’ll know to get as far away from them as you can.

Cults are a dangerous thing, to begin with, but, in a zombie apocalypse, they can become even worse, as they have the ability to try to carry out all of the demented schemes they couldn’t get away with before, plus, use zombies as some kind “divine wrath,” to boot. They are insidious things that you want to stay as far away from as you can, and hopefully, after reading this, you know how to spot them.
