Fans of The Walking Dead consider Gale Anne Hurd one of the family. Since the beginning, she has been involved with The Walking Dead and the two spin-off series, Fear the Walking Dead and Walking Dead World Beyond. So, when one of our family is bestowed an award, we celebrate with them. Hurd is a powerhouse, and she is being honored at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival that takes place August 4-14 in Locarno, Switzerland.

Hurd will be the recipient of the Premio Raimondo Rezzonico (Best Producer Award). This is awarded to producers who have played a major role in international production. On August 7, they will screen The Terminator at the Festival in her honor.

Giona A. Nazzaro, Artistic Director of the Locarno Film Festival, had this to say about Hurd:

"Gale Anne Hurd has revolutionized our conception of what action cinema looks like. In a domain where the male gaze ruled supreme, she imposed a completely new, explosive and engaging sensibility."

We know Gale Anne Hurd produces The Walking Dead; what films has she produced?

Many Walking Dead fans may not know of the extent of Hurd’s work throughout her years in the film industry. She graduated from Stanford University and started working as an executive producer for Roger Corman.

Some Walking Dead fans may be surprised to know that Hurd produced The Terminator and co-wrote this film with her ex-husband James Cameron. She produced blockbusters that include Aliens, Armageddon, Dante’s Peak, and the additional Terminator films that complete the trilogy. And, this is only a small sampling of the films she has been involved in.

Throughout her career, she has worked with many famous people and received many other awards. These include the Telluride Tech Festival Award of Technology (2003),  Lifetime Achievement Award from the Athena Film Festival (2013) and Fangoria Lifetime Achievement.

Award (2017) for her work in the horror and science fiction genres. She was also awarded her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012.
