3) Don’t Assume You’re Doomed

As I’ve been saying throughout, Grace was left in a bad way at the end of this week’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead, being left with a child who never got a chance, that future she envisioned crumbling before her eyes, and The Beginners getting the key from Morgan. The episode ended with things looking pretty bleak.

However, hope is not lost: Grace is still alive, Morgan is alive, all of the rest of their friends are alive, and both the Pioneers’ communities and the dam are still standing. They can carry on.

It’s real easy to see things go south on you in a zombie apocalypse and then assume that you’re completely screwed, but doing that does you a tremendous disservice. Until you are completely out of options, assuming so is just…defeating yourself.

If you have the opportunity to flee from zombies or hostiles, you can do it. If you have the ability to fight zombies or hostiles, you can do it. Just because things have gone bad, or things look bleak, so long as you still have the ability to do something about your situation, you’re not doomed by any means.

The whole point of this week’s rule is the future, and, so long as you’re as you still have the ability to carry on, you have a future, but if you give up, you’re throwing away that future before even giving it a chance.
