Greg Nicotero holds many roles in The Walking Dead fandom. He serves as an executive producer, director, FX make-up supervisor and designer. He has also played a walker numerous times. He shared on his IG page that he has just completed directing his 35th episode for the series.

Nicotero directed his first episode of The Walking Dead in season two. The episode was “Judge, Jury, Executioner,” where Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn) starts to question the humanity of the group when Rick sides with Shane regarding the prisoner Randall (Michael Zegen). This episode also gave us the horrific death of Dale.

He has also directed other outstanding episodes, including 30 Days Without an Accident, No Sanctuary, First Time Again, Last Day on Earth, The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be, We are the End of the World and A Certain Doom. He ended season 10 with 33 directorial episodes, which means that he has directed two more episodes in season eleven. The eleventh and final season of the series will consist of 24 episodes giving him many more opportunities to direct in the last season.

The video below that he shared on IG shows them recreating Rick Grimes hospital scene for Andrew Lincoln’s final episode.

Greg Nicotero is a multitalented man and uses his talents to their full potential

Nicotero started his career in 1985 on George Romero’s Day of the Dead, where he worked on the special FX team. He continued his career working between SPX and producing with ease. Some of the projects he has worked on include From Dusk til Dawn, Army of Darkness, Annabelle, to only mention a few.

He has revamped Creepshow for Shudder, and that has been well-received by horror fans. The series released its second season in April 2021 and had been renewed for a third. In addition to many other cast members, the cast has also included some of our favorite Walking Dead cast members. Josh McDermitt, Cailey Fleming and C. Thomas Howell have all starred in the series. Nicotero was hoping to have Andrew Lincoln in an episode, but he is in the UK and unable to travel due to the pandemic.

Nicotero also co-owns Nic and Norman’s restaurants with Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus. They currently have two locations, Chattanooga, TN and Senoia, GA.
