Fear the Walking Dead: What we know about Teddy Maddox

Fear the Walking Dead has been teasing one of the newest characters for quite some time. We finally met the man that Alicia dubbed ‘king of the crazies’ in “The Holding.” His name is Theodore Maddox (John Glover), and he is a dangerous man.

“The Holding” introduced us to the world of the Beginners who have been spray painting their mantra everywhere a person looks. They are a highly developed, well-organized group that gives off a very cultish feel. Virginia was very afraid of this group, and Morgan’s group couldn’t locate them.

After realizing the group may literally live underground, Al, Alicia, Luciana and Wes posed as a group looking for a new home. They were welcomed to the Holding by Riley, who eventually interviews each one and records the interviews for the leader Teddy. When they entered the underground compound, they knew there were in the right place when they saw the mantra painted on the walls there.

What we know so far about the leader of the Holding, Teddy Maddox

• He formed a cult in the 70s with a large following
• He was a mortician before the outbreak
• He lived in the desert somewhere near Houston
• He was a serial killer known as the Mortician Murderer, who killed many young girls and then embalmed them to keep them from “moving on in the afterlife”
• He was hunted by John Dorie Sr., who was a policeman investigating the brutal murders of young girls
• He was framed by John Dorie Sr., Dorie, unable to find enough evidence to convict planted one of the victim’s purses on him
• He was sentenced to life in prison for the murders
• He escaped prison after the outbreak
• He restarted his cult after the outbreak

The next episode of Fear the Walking Dead is titled “Mother.”  From the first look photos that The Walking Dead has shared on their Twitter page (below), we can see that we will get some more of Teddy’s story.

You can already guess that John Dorie Sr. will play an important part in the fall of Teddy and his post-apocalyptic cult. He investigated this man for a long time and knows some of the interworkings of his mind.

Fear the Walking Dead just keeps getting better as this season progresses. The episodes that will close out season six will set us up for something major in season seven.

Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, May 23, with the episode titled “Mother.” The synopsis for this episode reads: While held prisoner by Teddy, Alicia reunites with old friends and must confront her past.
