The Walking Dead’s showrunner Angela Kang has done amazing things with the series since she took the showrunner position at the start of season nine. Variety is reporting that this summer, Kang will be recognized with the 2021 Etheria Inspiration Award.

This award is given annually to someone in the entertainment industry, encouraging women to pursue jobs in film and TV. Kang is the first female showrunner for The Walking Dead series and has blazed quite a trail in the horror/sci-fi genre. Previous recipient and fellow Walking Dead franchise producer Gale Ann Hurd will present the award to Kang.

The Etheria Festival will be a digital event and present a Short Films Showcase lineup on AMC Networks Shudder streaming service. The festival will air June 25-July 25 and showcase 8 short films in horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action and thriller genres directed by women.

Angela Kang says season eleven of The Walking Dead will feel like a throwback

Fans are counting down the days until the premiere of season eleven of The Walking Dead. Many fans were very disappointed with the bonus episodes in season 10c. They felt the episodes didn’t contribute to the overall story and are worried this will be how the series continues.

But, rest assured that things will be back to “the normal scope and scale,” according to Kang in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.   She shared that the first episode will include many characters, tons of walkers, lots of action and new locations.

There are many open-ended stories that fans feel deserve a resolution.

In season 10, we found out that Connie is still alive, and the only person who knows is Virgil. Can we trust that guy?

Maggie and Negan, will there be a resolution? An altercation? Or, will they just go on staying out of each other’s way? Kang said there is a big important storyline there that should be fascinating.

We were introduced to the Reapers. Those guys are bad news. Do they mean harm to the people living in Alexandria? This community was badly shaken during the Whisperer war and can’t handle much more.

There is the new group that captured Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko and Princess. Is this group friend or foe? We know what they are in the comics, but this is the series; anything can happen.

In the interview, Kang mentions “some really intriguing stuff for Daryl.” There have been hints given regarding Leah, who we met in season 10c, and that her story isn’t quite over.

Although the start of season 11 also means the beginning of the end for The Walking Dead, it will be exciting to see where things end up.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC with the season eleven premiere on August 22, 2021.
