The Walking Dead alum Sarah Wayne Callies celebrates a birthday today

Fans of The Walking Dead may not have cared for Lori Grimes, but they love the actress that played her, Sarah Wayne Callies. Today is Callies birthday, and fans have posted many birthday wishes for the actress across social media.

Callies was an original cast member of the long-running series, The Walking Dead. She played the mother of Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), the wife of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and when she thought her husband was dead, she had a fling with her husband’s best friend Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal). She became pregnant during an apocalypse, which can be a major challenge, and the question surrounding the pregnancy was whose baby was it? Rick’s or Shane’s?

Lori Grimes died giving birth to Judith, and it was a horrible death to watch, even for fans who didn’t like her character. Maggie (Lauren Cohen) had to give her a c-section with no medicine, and then her son Carl had to shoot her before she would reanimate as one of the undead. It was a heartwrenching scene, and when Maggie emerged from the prison with a crying baby, Rick knew by the look on her face that his wife had died. Watching our leader, Rick Grimes, become emotional over the loss of his wife was almost too much to behold.

Before she became Mrs. Rick Grimes, Sarah Wayne Callies starred in many other series and continued to do so after she departed from The Walking Dead. 

She is known for playing Sara Tancredi in Prison Break, Leann Volesky in The Long Road Home and Katie Bowman in Colony.

After leaving The Walking Dead, she would star in Unspeakable, an account of the Canadian blood scandal that caused many hemophiliacs to contract hepatitis c and HIV/AIDS in the 80s. She also starred in two episodes of Letterkenny as Anita Dyck.  Most recently, she played Robin Perry in Council of Dads. Her character is a widow of Scott Perry, who, before his death from cancer, created a Council of Dads to be father figures in his children’s lives once he died.
